Holland, Michigan is a gorgeous place to live. You're near water at all times, you're not far from all the other adorable lake shore towns, and I've personally just always loved the area. Their downtown is one of the best around for shopping, eating and people-watching, and all of the people I know that live in Holland absolutely love it.
This two-story mid-century gem (I wouldn't call it "modern", more of a modest) just came on the market, and my friend sent me the listing last last night. The big lot, big windows and quad-level floor plan caught my eye.
The exterior, in my opinion, needs some love, but if you've seen that gorgeous home in Grand Rapids overhauled by designer Rock Kauffman, you know what I'm imagining here.
Check out the gorgeous (original!) wood floors, and lovely (naked!) interior doors. I love the fireplace in the great room, opposite the kitchen. And all those windows? I'm dreaming of gorgeous pinch pleat drapes in a retro-tastic fabric. The kitchen looks like it functions fine, but I'd also love to see this reconfigured to better use the space and appeal to the modern family. Keep the wall oven, though - much easier to use than a low range in my opinion! And certainly more period-appropriate.
With an asking price of $150k, this house is a great starting point for a lovely mid-century home!
